Great Smoky Mountains Post 7 "The End"

We finished our Great Smoky Mountains with a 5 mile loop trail in the Elkmount area of the park.  This area served as a major vacation / weekend retreat for Knoxville & southern city residents.  Appalachian Club was formed in 1910 on 50 arces.  The area is now part of the park and they are restoring several of the orginial vacation homes.

Wild Roses along the trail

Water cascading through the hill side, rocks and trees

Little River flowing along trail

Cascading water flowing under trail

Some giant trees! Cucumber Gap Trail

Sink Falls along Little River Road.  This is adjacent to the road so everyone stops to view.  Several people were swimming downstream of falls.

Meigs Falls - This flows into the Little River and is tucked away from the road.

We pulled out of the campground on June 1!

This was a very interesting month in Pigeon Forge, TN.  Spent many, many days wondering in the Smokies, saw Dolly Parton, gained knowledge of some great American history, relaxed, visited Bush Beans Museum (30 minutes east of Pigeon Forge, went to a AA Chicago Cubs baseball game, spent time at the local emgerency room + local orthopedic!
