Pocono's Pennsylvania Part 1

Well, it's time the Flick's do some updating!  We arrived in the Pocono's (eastern PA) June 7 and stayed till July 1.  Will brake the postings into 2 parts.
Spent time with family and friends.  The special event we attended was Larry's nephews daughter's (Jennifer) wedding.  Larry visited his Hexcel family in Pottsville and Cheryl spent time with a friend in Orwigsburg.  We were able to pick fresh strawberries and blueberries,  YUM, YUM.  Attended a Phillies AA game in Reading with Larry's niece, husband and their grandson.  One night was set aside to play Haus n Pepper, this is a variation of Pinnacle.  Of course, there was always the occasional gathering that included food.
Oh to be young!   Jennifer (Flick) and Jordan Wenger following their church wedding riding the miniature tractor train in the parking lot.  It was a great day for all.

Larry with sister Betty and brother Richard.

Look closely, now you see it and now......

you don't.  Cast for the wrist was removed on June 17.  Wrist was not completely healed so had to wear a splint for a few weeks.  At least I can shower without plastic bags wrapped around my arm.

A local attraction in the Pocono's.  Remember the Pocono's are noted as a Honeymoon paradise.

The Main Falls

Canyon vegetation decorating the trail
Gorge Falls

Nice trails through the resort.  Boy looking at these pictures never would have thought temperatures would have reached record highs in July!

Told you this was a Honeymoon area!

Bridal Falls

Enjoying the scenery!  Rushing water.

This is a newer museum in Allentown, PA.  Museum is down the street from the original Leigh High Valley Penn State campus,   Larry earned a 2 year degree at the campus.  If you like transportation history this will definitely give you a boost.

1915 Model "T" Ford Roadster.  Sold for $680, 4 cylinder, 20 HP with a top speed of 30 - 35 MPH.  This car is owned by one of Larry's cousin.

Mack Truck.  Mack was a major contributor to Allentown's industry.  This is a vintage truck.

Next photo describes this one!

Told you there was all kinds of transportation.

Pensky Racing also has had a big affect on the Leigh High Valley.  Indy, Grand Prix, Nascar

The museum was celebrating 100 years of Chevrolet.  The 50's station wagon, brings back memories.  Today we have the SUV.

Larry's first car was a 1952 Deluxe 4 door.  It was not this sporty or this color.  This would have been a real "chick picker upper"!

1984 Corvette.  First fully redesigned vette since 1968.  Notice the license plate, South Dakota.

Today's network of interstate highways was born in PA
